Jodrell Bank is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and is home to our iconic Lovell Telescope, the UK’s largest radio telescope. In my role as a “STEM” Ambassador (Science, Technology, Engineering & Maths) I have been volunteering at Jodrell Bank for over a year now. This Christmas we were all in for a treat. The Lovell Telescope was lit up against the night sky enabling us to see it in its full glory. Each time I volunteer I support a different activity. Today it was helping our youngest astronauts to practice their space walks on the moon. The most memorable moment was when the first child shouted as they put on their space boots and stepped onto the moon “One small step for man, one giant leap for mankind." quoting Neil Armstrong when he stepped onto the moon for the first time on 20th July 1969.
Jodrell Bank has a full range of activities for all ages throughout the year, so why not find out more at www.Jodrellbank.net
