Nuclear power has kept Britain’s lights on for generations, producing more clean power and saving more emissions than any other energy source and sustaining over 60,000 green jobs today. Nuclear power is clean, it has the lowest life-cycle carbon footprint of any energy source, making it the most sustainable. It is compact which is important given competing priorities for land use. Lastly it is a reliable, vital part of our energy mix so we have secure, home-grown power.
For this reason I am delighted to announce my appointment to the Board of Sellafield Ltd and also Chair of the Audit and Risk Assurance Committee. Sellafield’s vision is to be a world leader in solving complex nuclear challenges. I am looking forward to this exciting opportunity to work in the nuclear industry.
